General Application Process and Fees

Application

(please contact info@aicep.org if you are an IECA Professional member)

available here for download

You will provide:

  • Information about your educational and professional preparation
  • A list of 30 site visits conducted in the past five years
  • A recent case study from your own experience
  • Three professional references
  • An affirmation of your commitment to ethical standards
  • A $200 application fee (some professional membership discounts may apply)

Your application will be reviewed by two members of the CEP Reading Committee.

Assessment

If your application is approved, you will be invited to schedule a time to sit for the CEP Assessment within six months. Your assessment will be reviewed, completely anonymously by two readers -- they will never know whose assessment they reviewed.

On the assessment, you will be expected to:

  • Write institutional descriptions for two of four institutions selected by the Commission from the list of 30 site visits you submitted in your application
  • Evaluate two vignettes of hypothetical students and recommend three to five institutions you feel would be particularly good matches for each of the students, as well as providing specific rationale supporting your recommendations

There is a $300 assessment fee (any applicant who initially fails to pass the assessment is provided with specific feedback on areas needing improvement and will be allowed 12 months to sit for the assessment again without paying an additional fee)

Annual Renewal

Certification is granted for five years. There is an annual fee of $150 to keep the credential valid.

Recertification

Recertification is required every five years. This includes meeting the continuing professional development requirements for recertification and submitting the recertification forms documenting your ongoing education/engagement. The $150 annual renewal fee covers the recertification cost for the recertification year.

Non-Discrimination Statement

The American Institute of Certified Educational Planners (AICEP) is committed to fully including all qualified individuals. As part of this commitment, AICEP will ensure that persons with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodations for the certification process. Please contact the AICEP Executive Assistant at info@aicep.org if reasonable accommodation is needed.

Note: Fees indicated are current as of January 31, 2024. They are subject to change at the discretion of the Commission.
